All About Communication was founded by Hannah and Christina in 2014 after years of talking about how to provide exceptional speech and language services to Durham Region. Christina, a Speech-Language Pathologist, and Hannah, a Communicative Disorders Assistant, met years before when Hannah provided speech and language therapy to her son and Christina was completing her qualifications as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Fast-forward to today and All About Communication has grown to include a close and collaborative team of Speech-Language Pathologists and Communicative Disorders Assistants who are committed to providing the best speech and language therapy to their families.

Meet the owners

Christina Lochrie

Christina Lochrie, BSc (Hons), MHSc, SLP, Reg. CASLPO

Co-Owner, Clinical Director, Speech-Language Pathologist

Christina completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) with majoring in Psychology (Specialist degree) at of the University of Toronto, Scarborough Campus. She graduated in 2012 from with a Master of Health Science degree in Speech and Language Pathology, also from the University of Toronto. She is registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.  Prior to opening her own Speech-Language Clinic, Christina worked at the Durham Catholic District School Board and a private practice clinic in Toronto.  She has experience in client-centred assessment and treatment in a variety of service areas with a focus on Autism, feeding and speech-sound disorders. Christina has training in several evidence-based therapy programs for children and adults with speech disorders including PROMPT and The Kauffman Speech to Language Protocol.  Other training includes DIR Floortime® for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Proloquo2Go™, Picture Exchange System (PECS)™, and LAMP Words for Life™. She has recently been advancing her knowledge of Gestalt Language Processing and how to apply that to providing therapy to Autistic children. Christina continually upgrades her training through workshops and stays current with recent research developments. When Christina is not working you can find her hitting the trails with her puppies, playing with her granddaughters, or crocheting.

Hannah-Hansson

Hannah Hansson, ECE, EA, CDA, Reg. CDAAC

Co-Owner, Clinical Manager, Communicative Disorders Assistant

Hannah is an Owner and Clinical Manager. Hannah is a graduate of Durham College’s Communicative Disorders Assistant program with Honours and is a member of the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada. Hannah has an educational background in Early Childhood Educational as well as Educational Assistant. Hannah is certified in American Sign Language and has advanced training in other Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems. Hannah also has education and experience in the Kauffman Speech to Language Protocol. She completed the Play Based Speech Course, Inside Out Sensory Program, Megg Thompson Master Class: Love vs. Fear When Diving into Behaviour Strategies, The Meaningful Speech Couse (for Gestalt Language Processors), Growing in Literacy- Structured Literacy with Hanna Stroud. Lindsey Hurley

Lindsey Hurley, BA, CDA, Reg. CDAAC

Office Manager, Communicative Disorders Assistant

Lindsey is a graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She then went on to complete her post-graduate certificate as a Communicative Disorders Assistant at Durham College. Lindsey is a member of the Communicative Disorders Assistant Association of Canada (CDAAC). She completed the Play Based Speech Course, Inside Out Sensory Program, Growing in Literacy- Structured Literacy with Hanna Stroud, and The Meaningful Speech Couse (for Gestalt Language Processors). Lindsey loves working with all of her clients and families at All About Communication and is always looking for new and exciting activities to incorporate into her sessions. Erika Kennedy, BA. (Hons.), MCl.Sc., SLP Reg. CASLPO

Speech-Language Pathologist and Clinical Lead for Entry-to-School (Eastern Ontario)

Erika completed her Undergraduate Bachelor Degree at Western University. She then continued her schooling at Western University to complete a Master of Clinical Science in Speech-Language Pathology. Erika is registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and is also a member of Speech-Language & Audiology of Canada (SAC). Erika has experience with neurodiversity-affirming client-centred assessment and treatment in a variety of areas within the pediatric population, helping each individual build upon their strengths. Erika’s focus typically is within the areas of articulation, motor speech, early language, Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC), and working with Autistic children. Erika is continuously furthering her skill set and keeping up to date on evidence-based practice to improve the care that she provides to each client. Some furthering education includes: ‘Digging Deeping: A practical, in-depth look at motor speech assessment and therapy,’ ‘Getting Started in Speech Therapy with the Minimally Verbal Child,’ ‘Coaching & Bagless Visits in Early Intervention,’ ‘4 Essential Steps Towards a Strengths-Based Approach to Autism’, ‘Goal Writing for Autistic Students,’ ‘Inside Out Sensory Certificate for SLPs,’ ‘Regulation Techniques for More Effective Sessions: Sensory Processing Intensive,’ ‘The Meaningful Speech Course’ (Gestalt Language Processing), ‘Cultivating Communication: Promoting the Successful Use of AAC from the Ground Up.’ In addition to seeing private clients, Erika is also working in Ontario Autism Program’s Entry-to-School classrooms in Eastern Ontario with All About Communication.

Kayla Neil, BA (Hons), MHSc, Reg. CASLPO

Clinical Manager, Speech-Language Pathologist 

Kayla graduated from the University of Toronto Master of Health Science in Speech and Language Pathology program. She is registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario and a member of the Speech-Language & Audiology Canada. Kayla also received her post-graduate certificate at Durham College in the Communicative Disorders Assistant Program. She has experience in client-centered assessment and treatment in various service areas focusing on literacy, articulation/motor speech, early language, fluency, and working with autistic children. Kayla’s role at All About Communication also includes educating and mentoring current SLP students and recent SLP graduates. Kayla continually upgrades her training through workshops and staying current with recent research developments. Some training includes Practical Tips and Techniques for Successful Articulation Remediation, Cycles for Phonology, Let’s Hear it for R!, Considerations in Assessment and Treatment of Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Best Treatment Practices for Preschool and School-Aged Children with Motor Speech Disorders, Digging Deeper: A Practical in-depth look at motor speech assessment and therapy, Evaluation and Intervention Practices for Preschool Children Who Stutter, DIR 101: An Introduction to DIR® and DIRFloortime®, Inside Out Sensory Certificate Program, and The Meaningful Speech Couse (for Gestalt Language Processors). When Kayla isn’t at work, you can find her working out at the gym or spending time with her family.

Sheree Owen, BA. Hons., CDA. Hons., Reg. CDAAC

Clinical Manager, Communicative Disorders Assistant

Sheree Owen is a graduate from Brock University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Language Sciences. She furthered her education at Durham College, obtaining a post-graduate certificate from the Communicative Disorders Assistant Program. Sheree is responsible for onboarding new clinicians, supervising CDA students, and managing our team of CDAs. Sheree has worked with Neurodiverse populations in the areas of receptive and expressive language, articulation, fluency, literacy, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Sheree has extensive knowledge with Pixon boards/core boards and LAMP. Sheree has had training in American Sign Language, Level 1, and DIR Floortime training. Sheree is committed to continuing to further her education to provide exceptional service to her clients. Some workshops that she has completed are The Inside Out Sensory Program, The Meaningful Speech Course (for Gestalt Language Processors), Play Based Speech Course, and Growing in Literacy- Structured Literacy with Hanna Stroud.
